Grey Wolf Special Education Mathematics instructor and yarn-art aficionado, Ms. Kristine Mayle, was recently granted an APS Education Foundation grant for her project, Crochet Club. This $400.00 award is part of a competitive grant process to support school-sponsored clubs, student organizations, and activities throughout the district. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this grant will have on students being able to learn the fine art of crocheting during in-person and remote learning at Garfield STEM Magnet between this semester and next school year!
Grey Wolf Science instructor, Mr. Christopher Speck, was recently granted an APS Education Foundation grant for his classroom project, Let It Grow! This $530.00 award is part of a competitive grant process to support project-based learning activities and units to enrich the educational experience of our students. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this grant will have on students' science learning in seventh-grade at Garfield STEM Magnet between this semester and next school year!
Assistant Principal and avid gamer, Mr. Joshua LaClair, was recently granted an APS Education Foundation grant for his project, Grey Wolf Esports Program. This $1,800.00 award is part of a competitive grant process to support school-sponsored clubs, student organizations, and activities throughout the district. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this grant will have on students being able to learn the aspects of teamwork, strategy, systems thinking, and communication through competitive gaming during in-person and remote learning at Garfield STEM Magnet between this semester and next school year!

Grey Wolf Community Coordinator, Ms. Pamela Campos, was recently granted an APS Education Foundation grant for her project, Online Art With Mr. Mark. This $1,575.00 award is part of a competitive grant process to support school-sponsored clubs, student organizations, and activities throughout the district. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this grant will have on students being able to access fun and exciting extra-curricular activities during remote learning at Garfield STEM Magnet!
Grey Wolf Band and performing arts instructor, Ms. Cynthia Ballantine, was recently granted an APS Education Foundation $4,000.00 grant for her project, Music For Students. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this grant will have on continuing to improve and promote performing arts at Garfield STEM Magnet!

Grey Wolf science instructor extraordinaire, Mr. Chris Speck, was recently granted an APS Education Foundation Horizon STEM Award for his project, Middle School Inquiry Based Biochemistry.
The award is in the amount of $1,254.00 funded through the district's Title IV program, which provides grants to instructors across Albuquerque to help increase student learning and engagement in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. These awards are so important for schools to provide relevant STEM materials for project-based learning activities, especially as school's have moved to a remote learning model and students may be asked to work on projects at home. Way to go, Mr. Speck!

Garfield STEM Magnet science teacher, Chris Speck, was one of 40 educators across our state to be awarded with Intel New Mexico's 40 for 40 Grant! Together with the Rio Rancho Community Foundation and in celebration of Intel Rio Rancho's fortieth anniversary, these grants support educators with up to $2,500 to boost efforts in STEM discovery and development with youth around the state. Congratulations, Mr. Speck!

Petty Office Joe 'Doc' McDaniel was awarded this year's APS Middle School Instructor of the Year due to his valuable efforts to expanding and promoting the Leadership program across the district.
According to his superior, Petty Officer McDaniel has "brought up the standards and expectation within his program" and across the district. "His dedication, compassion, and enthusiasm has no equal. He continually helps mentor instructors to understand materials and overcome shortfalls."
